On March 15th, the MASC Foundation, with the support of the Canada Fund for Local Initiatives (CFLI), made a significant impact by distributing 210 food and hygiene kits, benefitting 1,285 people in Ancuabe District, Cabo Delgado Province. This vital initiative aimed to assist families affected by Cyclone Chido and the ongoing extreme weather events in the region.
A key focus of the event was Menstrual Hygiene Management, with the goal of empowering women and girls with essential knowledge and guidelines for effective menstrual management. Menstrual hygiene is particularly important in disaster situations, as access to sanitary products and proper facilities can be severely limited, leading to health risks and increased vulnerability.
The educational sessions were thoughtfully divided into two sections per community, led by a Nurse from the Ancuabe health center, and featured active participation from community members, ensuring the information was both engaging and impactful.
This initiative highlights the power of community collaboration and the importance of addressing both immediate needs and long-term health education, especially in the context of disaster recovery.
The ceremony was attended by the local government of Ancuabe District, along with local technicians of planning and infrastructure and health sectors, PRM, and community members.
