On August 21, 2024, in Namacurra, the “Civic Voices Festival” took place organized by the MASC Foundation, with the need to promote the modernization of civic spaces and the active involvement of civil society in decision-making in Namacurra, using community radios and performing arts such as theater, dance and music to encourage citizen participation and strengthen civic engagement. The event brought together more than 500 participants, including local communities, leaders and representatives from different sectors.
The festival was divided into two parts: a dialogue with local artists, who discussed the role of art and community radio in promoting democratic participation, and a series of cultural presentations.
The second part of the event was marked by a vibrant open-air festival, where the public could enjoy theater, poetry, dance and music performances, with local artists bringing socially relevant themes to the stage. Music, theater and poetry not only entertained, but also promoted reflection and dialogue about civic rights and the importance of active involvement in community decisions.
The event also featured services offered by different sectors, reinforcing collaboration between government, civil society and citizens in building a more engaged society.
